Luzerne County Reentry Service Center to host transition ceremony

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.,—May 15, 2017Luzerne County and GEO Reentry Services, the operator of an innovative community-based day reporting center for probationers in Luzerne, will host a graduation, or transition ceremony, for 39 probationers who have successfully completed the intensive reentry program at the Luzerne County Reentry Service Center (RSC).  Honorable Judge Michael Vough will be the keynote speaker at the event.

Luzerne County officials, program staff, program graduates and their families will attend. Graduates will also have the opportunity to address the audience, reflecting on their history and experience in the program. For graduates, the event is a significant milestone along their path to reentry.

Located at 125 N. Wilkes-Barre Blvd., Suite 4 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa, the RSC opened in 2010 to help alleviate jail crowding specifically at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility and reduce chronic recidivism rates among adult probationers. The center provides treatment, training, and supervision for up to 150 individuals at one time. Offenders referred to the center are required to participate in a multi-phase program that includes regular reporting to the center, intensive treatment, training, and ongoing testing for drug and alcohol use.
