Lycoming County Reentry Service Center Celebrates 5th anniversary and hosts graduation for 25 probationers Sept. 6

WillIamsport Celebrating its fifth anniversary of serving Lycoming County, GEO Reentry Services and the county will host a transition ceremony and open house for more than 25 probationers who have successfully completed treatment and training at the Lycoming County Reentry Service Center on Friday, Sept. 6. Lycoming County Judge Nancy Butts, Deputy Chief of the Adult Probation Office John Stahl and Lycoming County Commissioner Jack McKernan will speak at the event. Graduates will also address the audience also. An open house of the Lycoming County RSC will follow the ceremony.

The event will include staff, family members, alumni, community members and supervising officers. Immediately following the ceremony, attendants will be invited to meet staff and learn about the programs offered at the Lycoming County RSC. The Lycoming County RSC was opened by county officials to help alleviate jail overcrowding and tackle chronic recidivism with certain offender groups. The center, operated by GEO Reentry, provides a structured combination of cognitive behavioral treatment, training and case management designed to change criminal thinking and reduce recidivism. Reentrants are required to take part in a multi-phase program that includes classes designed to improve communication skills, teach problem solving and conflict resolution, and develop parenting and employment skills. GEO Reentry operates several reentry programs in Pennsylvania.
